The Fastliners: Pete Thomas, Kenny Pirie, Don Holdernesse, Kevin Coffee and Mike Fairbairn.

The Fastliners are a new 5 piece outfit comprised of Kevin Coffey ,vocals, Don Holderness, guitar, Pete Thomas, bass, Kenny Pirie, drums, and Mike Fairbairn on harmonica and slide guitar.They’ll be hammering out tunes in various genres from Electric blues, to Southern States proto – rock.

The Bad Liars

The Bad Liars kicked things off at the 2008 Orkney Blues Weekend and are ready to bring you more of their vision of genuine blues fuelled music starting Friday night at the 2009 event.

Their set-list includes classic blues standards from John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters, Bessie Smith and early Sun Records, as well as lesser known gems given the Bad Liars treatment.

Lead vocals are by the most blues-wailing Lorraine McBrearty, lead guitar from Mike ‘Noodles’ Henderson, and the rhythm section featuring Andrew Want on guitar and harmonica, Dan ‘Preacher-Man’ Rhodes on double bass, and Dave Stevenson pounding the back-beat. Dig it!

Special guest appearance is expected from Dougie Stevenson from Scotdisc on lap steel. Dougie has recently returned from touring with Stella Parton. We hope his playing won’t set off the sprinkler system!

Bad Taste brought the house down at last years blues weekend with their tight full on versions of some of the best classic rock and blues classics around. They’ve performed a lot since then and will no doubt be out to steal the show again this year.

Miss Noma and Mr Ree

Miss Noma and Mr Ree

Orkney Blues Weekend stalwarts Miss Noma and Mr Ree, aka Catherine Grivas and Michael Moldau will be performing for us again this year. We can look forward to classics such as Killing the Blues, Come on in my Kitchen, and I wished I was in Heaven, all performed in a classic Mississippi delta blues vein.

Bad Business

Bad Business: Walter Gorman, Kennie Swinney, Marcus Cordock, Dylan Pepper and John Pettigrew.

Bad Business are a group of local musicians who’ve played in several bands over the years and performed at past blues weekends in many guises. This time round they’ll be performing tracks by Popa Chubby, Dave Hole, and Blues Company among others.

Blueberry Jam

Blueberry Jam sisters Emma and Katie Thomas, with their dad Pete Thomas, from The Fastliners, on bass.

Blueberry Jam are a two piece sister act featuring Katy and Emma Thomas this is their first appearance at a blues weekend so please go along and give them a big bloozy welcome.
